Can I Book A Vacation Rental And Bring My Pet(s)?

Many travellers wouldn't dream of taking a holiday without their beloved pets. The good news is that numerous vacation rentals across Holidu, Booking.com, and Airbnb welcome furry companions, making it easy to bring your pets along on your next getaway.

How Do I Find Pet-Friendly Stays?

Finding pet-friendly accommodations is simple and can be done in a couple of ways across all three platforms.

During the Booking Process

Holidu: When selecting your destination, travel dates, and number of guests, you can refine your search by applying filters. Look for the pet-friendly filter in the search results.

Booking.com: When selecting your destination, dates, and number of guests, you will find the question "Travelling with pets?" in the drop-down menu of the guest selection. Select this option to see only accommodations that allow pets.

Airbnb: When selecting your destination, dates, and number of guests, you'll also see an option to add the number of pets travelling with you in the drop-down menu of the guest selection. Once selected, your search results will automatically include accommodations that allow pets.

Using Search Filters

Holidu: On the left side of the search results page, look for the "Popular filters" or "Amenities" section. Check the box for "Pets allowed" to display only pet-friendly properties.

Booking.com: If you didn't select "Travelling with pets?" earlier, you can still apply the "Pets allowed" filter by checking this box under the "Facilities" section of the filter options on the left-hand side of the search results.

Airbnb: If you didn't enter the number of pets earlier, you can still apply a filter. Click "Filters" in the top right corner of the search page. In the pop-up window, check the box for "Allows pets" under the "Booking options" section. If you previously added pets during the booking process, this filter will already be applied.

What Should I Know About Pet Policies?

Each listing clearly states whether pets are allowed, along with any specific rules and requirements. Some hosts may have restrictions on the number, size, or type of pets, and additional fees may apply. Be sure to review the property description and house rules carefully before booking.

The description of each accommodation provides detailed information on the respective house rules and regulations that apply, including extra fees for pets, specific requirements, and any other pet-related restrictions.

Do I Need to Add My Pet During Booking?

Holidu: For some properties, your pet needs to be added during the booking process to be allowed. Please review the Extra Services section in the check-out page below your personal details. If the booking process fails once you add a pet to your booking, it means that no more pet-friendly properties are available for your selected dates. It is not possible to add a pet after the booking has been completed. Additionally, please make sure to add your pet's information in the check-in form.

Booking.com and Airbnb: While adding your pet during booking is recommended, if your pet was not added to your booking, please contact the host to inform them that you will be bringing a pet. This allows the host to confirm that your pet can be accommodated and to discuss any additional fees or requirements.

Are There Additional Fees for Pets?

Pet fees vary by property. Some hosts may not charge any additional fees for pets, while others may require a pet fee per night or per stay. If no pet fees are mentioned in the listing description, it's best to confirm with the host before booking. Always review the property details and terms to understand any pet-related costs.

What Pets Are Allowed?

Pet policies differ from property to property. Some hosts welcome all types of pets, while others may have restrictions based on the type, size, or number of animals. Common restrictions include:

  • Maximum number of pets allowed
  • Size or weight restrictions
  • Specific animal types (some properties may not allow certain breeds or exotic animals)

Always check the listing details and house rules to confirm your specific pet will be welcome at the property.

Tips for Booking a Pet-Friendly Vacation Rental

  • Read the full listing description and house rules carefully before booking
  • Check for any pet fees or deposits required
  • Ensure your pet is added during the booking process if required
  • Contact the host if you have any questions about pet policies
  • Make sure to add your pet's information in the check-in form
  • Prepare your pet for travel, including bringing any necessary documents or supplies

Still Have Questions About Pet Policies?

If you have specific questions about a property's pet policy, don't hesitate to reach out to the host directly before booking. They can provide clarification on any restrictions, fees, or special requirements for your pet. This ensures a smooth and enjoyable stay for both you and your furry companion.
