In Italy, all accommodation providers—including short-term rental hosts—are legally required to report guest information to the local police within 24 hours of arrival. If the stay is shorter than 24 hours, guest details must be communicated upon arrival. This requirement is mandated by Article 109 of the Consolidated Law on Public Security.
Holidu provides an integrated guest check-in feature that helps you comply with these legal requirements effortlessly by automating guest data collection and simplifying the reporting process to Alloggiati Web.
Important Notice - Current Status
The guest check-in integration with Alloggiati Web is currently paused in Italy due to a temporary non-compliance issue. Until further notice, hosts must manually submit guest data directly via the Alloggiati Web portal. Holidu is working to restore this feature as soon as compliance requirements are met.
Legal Requirements for Guest Registration in Italy
Who Must Comply?
All types of accommodation providers, including vacation rental hosts, are legally required to comply with Italian guest registration regulations. Failure to report guest information may result in penalties, including fines or imprisonment.
Information Required
Hosts must collect and report the following details for the main guest:
- Full name
- Date of birth
- Nationality
- Passport or ID number
- Date of arrival
- Place of birth
The collected guest information must be submitted electronically via the Alloggiati Web portal, managed by the Italian State Police.
Multiple Guests on One Booking
Only the main guest must provide the type and number of their ID document. Additional guests must provide basic personal information (full name, date of birth, nationality), but document numbers are not required.
Document Verification and Guestbooks
In compliance with Italian law, hosts are required to verify the identification of their guests in person at check-in. The guestbook will display complete document information for only one guest per booking, while the document fields for the others will appear as empty.

Please note that the automatic data transfer to Alloggiati Web is currently paused due to non-compliance. Hosts must manually upload guest details via the Alloggiati Web portal.
How to Connect Your Property to Alloggiati Web
Once the integration becomes active again, you will be able to reconnect your property using the following steps. If you are using the mobile app, ensure you have the latest version installed.
Step 1: Access Account Settings
In your Holidu App, click on the Holidu logo, select "Account," and click "Configure" under the "Online guest registration" section.
Step 2: Select Your Property
You will see your list of properties. Click "Configure" next to the property you want to connect to Alloggiati Web.
Step 3: Complete the Configuration Form
Complete the form and select the following options:
- Select "Activate automatic sending to an authority"
- Choose "Alloggiati Web" as the authority
- Enter your Alloggiati Web username and password
- Enter your service key
- Click "Validate" to verify your credentials
Step 4: Save Changes
Click "Save changes" at the bottom of the form. If no error message appears, your property is now connected to Alloggiati Web.
Step 5: Confirm Connection
Close the form and confirm that the connection is active by checking for a confirmation message in your account settings.
Where to Find Your Alloggiati Web Credentials
To obtain your Alloggiati Web credentials, you will need to access the Alloggiati Web portal directly. Please note that this process must be done on a computer, as the Alloggiati Web platform may not display all options correctly on mobile devices or tablets.
Steps to Retrieve Your Web Service Key
- Log into your Alloggiati Web account at the official portal
- Click on your account name in the top right corner
- Select "Chiave Web service" (Web Service Key)
- If you already have a code, copy and paste it
- If not, click "Genera Nuovo Codice" to generate a new one
- Enter the new Web Service key into the Holidu configuration form
Important Credential Notes
- You can only generate one new Web Service key per day
- Every time you change your password on Alloggiati Web, you must also update the Web Service key in Holidu
Data Transmission Timing
When the integration is active again, guest data will be transmitted to Alloggiati Web according to the following schedule:
- For one-night stays: data is transmitted at 11:00 PM on the check-in date
- For stays of two nights or more: data is transmitted at 11:00 PM on the day after check-in
Troubleshooting
If you encounter any issues while connecting your property to Alloggiati Web, here are some common solutions:
- Ensure you are using the correct username, password, and service key from your Alloggiati Web account
- Verify that your Web Service key is current and has not expired
- If you changed your Alloggiati Web password, regenerate your Web Service key and update it in Holidu
- Make sure you are using a computer to access the configuration form, as mobile devices may not display all fields correctly
- Contact Holidu support if the validation fails after confirming all credentials are correct
