Online Check-in - Statistical Reporting in Italy: A Simple Guide for Hosts
Important Notice (Updated October 2025)
The Statistical Reporting integration (ISTAT) feature is currently unavailable until further notice due to a temporary technical and compliance review. Until the integration is reactivated, hosts must manually submit monthly reports through their regional ISTAT or tourism authority portal. Holidu is actively working to restore the automatic reporting functionality as soon as possible.
What is Statistical Reporting?
In Italy, all accommodation providers are legally required to submit monthly statistical reports to the authorities. These reports help track tourism trends at both national and local levels, allowing governments and local administrations to develop better strategies for tourism planning and development.
Even if your property was closed or had no guests during the month, you are still required to submit the report. This ensures complete and accurate tourism data across all regions.
For detailed guidelines on reporting requirements, refer to the ISTAT Reporting Guidelines.
What Information is Required?
Each month, hosts must report the following details about their accommodation:
- Property name – The official name of your accommodation
- Property type – Such as hotel, bed and breakfast, vacation rental, or other accommodation category
- Days open or closed – A property is considered open if it was available for at least one day in the month. It is considered closed only if it remained closed for the entire month.
- Total available rooms – The number of rooms available for that month
- Total available beds – The total number of beds across all rooms for that month
- Total number of guests – The total count of guests who checked in during the month
- Guest nationalities – The countries of origin of your guests. If guests are Italian, the province where they reside must also be reported.
- Total number of occupied nights – The sum of all nights occupied by guests during the month
How Do Hosts Get Credentials?
Each province in Italy has its own regional portal where hosts must register to obtain their credentials. The registration process may vary depending on the local authority, but generally follows these steps:
- Identify the correct regional portal based on the property's location – Each province manages its own reporting system.
- Register as an accommodation provider on the portal – You will need to provide information about your property and business.
- Receive login credentials – Once registered, you will receive a username and password to access the system.
- Use these credentials to submit monthly statistical reports – Keep your credentials secure and use them for all future submissions.
If you are unsure where to register, it is recommended to check with your local municipality or tourism office for guidance specific to your province.
How to Submit the Report?
Each province in Italy has its own regional portal where accommodation providers must submit their data. Submission timelines and procedures vary by region, so check your local authority's requirements.
Automatic Reporting for Connected Properties
To simplify the reporting process, Holidu offers an automatic statistical reporting feature. Once your stats account is connected to Holidu, all required data is sent automatically to the relevant authorities, eliminating the need for manual submissions on the regional portal.
Automatic Reporting for Empty Periods
The Holidu ISTAT integration also automatically communicates to ISTAT when there are no guests during a given month. This ensures your property remains compliant with reporting requirements even during periods when it is unoccupied or closed.
How to Connect Your Property to Statistics Reporting
Follow these simple steps to enable automatic statistical reporting for your property:
- Log in to your Holidu account and navigate to the Statistics Connection section.
- Set up the integration with your ISTAT stats account – This will allow Holidu to automatically send your guest data to the authorities.
- Click Validate to confirm the connection settings.
- Click Save changes to enable automatic reporting.
Once connected, your monthly statistical reports will be submitted automatically, ensuring you remain compliant with Italian regulations without additional effort.
