Online Check-in - Statistical Reporting in Italy – A Simple Guide for Hosts

Important Notice (Updated October 2025)

Statistical reporting requirements in Italy are mandatory for all accommodation providers. This guide has been updated to reflect the latest regulations and procedures for submitting your monthly reports. Ensure you comply with your local provincial requirements to avoid penalties.

What is Statistical Reporting?

In Italy, all accommodation providers are legally required to submit monthly statistical reports to the authorities. These reports help track tourism trends at both national and local levels, allowing governments and local administrations to plan tourism more effectively.

Even if your property was closed or had no guests during the month, you are still required to submit the report.

For more detailed information about reporting guidelines, refer to the ISTAT Reporting Guidelines.

What Information is Required?

Each month, hosts must report the following details to ensure compliance with Italian regulations:

  • Property name – The official name of your accommodation
  • Property type – For example, hotel, B&B, holiday home, or apartment
  • Days open or closed
    • A property is considered open if it was available for at least one day in the month
    • It is considered closed only if it remained closed for the entire month
  • Total available rooms for that month – The number of rooms you offered
  • Total available beds for that month – The total bed count available
  • Total number of guests checked in during that month – Your guest count
  • Guest nationalities
    • If guests are Italian, the province where they reside must also be reported
  • Total number of occupied nights – The sum of all nights booked

How Do Hosts Get Credentials?

Each province in Italy has its own regional portal where hosts must register to obtain their credentials. The registration process may vary depending on the local authority, but generally, you will need to follow these steps:

  1. Identify the correct regional portal based on your property's location
  2. Register as an accommodation provider on the portal
  3. Receive login credentials such as a username and password
  4. Use these credentials to submit your monthly statistical reports

If you are unsure where to register, check with your local municipality or tourism office for guidance. They can direct you to the appropriate provincial portal for your area.

How to Submit the Report?

Each province in Italy has its own regional portal where accommodation providers must submit their data. However, to make this process easier for you, Holidu offers an automatic statistical reporting feature as part of its regulatory support for the Italian market.

Automatic Reporting Feature

Once connected, the required data is sent automatically for you, so you can spend less time on manual submissions. This integration takes care of the recurring submissions throughout the year.

Automatic Reporting for Empty Periods

The Holidu ISTAT integration also reports to ISTAT when there are no guests during a given month, supporting your compliance with reporting requirements even when your property is unoccupied.

How to Connect Your Property to Statistics Reporting

Follow these simple steps to enable automatic statistical reporting for your property:

  1. Log in to your Holidu account and navigate to the Statistics Connection section
  2. Set up the integration with your stats account to automate guest reporting
  3. Click on Validate and Save changes to complete the setup

Once you have completed these steps, your property will be connected to the statistical reporting system, and your guest data will be automatically submitted each month in compliance with Italian regulations.
