Understanding how guest reviews work is crucial to your success as a host on Holidu. This guide will help you navigate review guidelines, management, and best practices.
How Reviews Work on Holidu
Guest reviews are ratings and written feedback that guests leave after completing their stay. They help future guests make informed booking decisions and significantly impact your property's visibility and credibility.
The Rating System
Guests rate their experience on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest. Your overall property rating is calculated as the average of all scores received. Guests can also provide detailed ratings in specific categories:
- Location
- Cleanliness
- Description accuracy
- Value for money
In addition to numeric ratings, guests may leave written comments sharing their thoughts about the stay.
Who Can Leave Reviews?
Two groups of guests can leave reviews on your Holidu property:
- Holidu guests: Guests who booked directly through Holidu after their stay concludes
- Channel guests: Guests who booked through connected platforms like Airbnb, Vrbo, or Booking.com, following each channel's review rules
Important note: Guests who book manually (entered directly by you or your property manager) cannot leave reviews.
Where to Find Your Reviews
To access all your reviews in your Holidu Host account:
- Log in to your Holidu Host account
- Navigate to Properties
- Select Configuration, then Reviews
Reviews typically appear within 14 days of the guest's stay completion. You'll see your overall score and individual written reviews from both Holidu and connected channels, though full review text is only visible for direct Holidu bookings.
Review Display and Sorting
Holidu displays reviews according to specific standards:
- Reviews are primarily sorted by booking date
- Reviews with written comments receive priority display
- Negative reviews appear only if your property has at least two total reviews
- Your overall property rating aggregates scores from multiple sources
Reviews from different channels may appear separately, each showing only bookings made through that specific platform.
Review Compliance Standards
We display all legitimate reviews—positive and negative—that meet our community standards. Reviews must be truthful, travel-related, and genuinely written by the guest who stayed.
What's Not Allowed
Reviews violating our standards will not be displayed if they contain:
- References to illegal activities
- Politically or religiously sensitive content
- Promotional material or external links
- Personal information such as names, contact details, or payment information
- Profanity, hate speech, threats, or sexual content
- Spam, fake reviews, or impersonation
Responding to Reviews
Depending on the booking channel, you have the opportunity to respond publicly to guest reviews. This is your chance to:
- Provide context for future guests
- Thank guests for positive feedback
- Address concerns professionally
- Showcase your commitment to guest satisfaction

Reporting Inappropriate Reviews
If you encounter a review that violates our guidelines, contact our Customer Service Team. Our local teams can assist in your language and investigate the issue.
For more information, see what to do when you receive a negative review.
Editing and Deleting Reviews
Review modification rules depend entirely on the booking channel. Holidu does not control editing or deletion on external platforms.
- Holidu reviews: Cannot be edited by guests. Our team can delete a review and send a new link if changes are needed
- Booking.com reviews: Guests can edit anytime from their account until automatic deletion after 2 years
- Airbnb reviews: Guests may only edit before publication
- Vrbo reviews: Guests must contact Vrbo directly to make changes
