CIN - National Identification Code for Italian Properties

The Italian Ministry of Tourism has introduced a requirement for all non-hotel accommodation providers, including holiday rentals, to obtain a National Identification Code (CIN). This regulation, part of Decreto Anticipi No. 145/2023, promotes fairness and transparency in Italy's short-term rental market.

What is CIN?

CIN stands for Codice Identificativo Nazionale (National Identification Code). It is a unique identifier assigned to each rental property by the Italian Ministry of Tourism. The code must be displayed outside your property and included in all your rental listings.

When Does CIN Apply?

The regulation went into effect on November 2, 2024. All rental properties should have obtained their CIN by January 1, 2025.

How Do I Get a CIN?

To obtain your CIN, you must apply through the Ministry of Tourism's online platform, Banca Dati Strutture Ricettive (BDSR). Once you receive your code, display it outside your property and add it to all your rental listings, both online and offline.

Safety Requirements for CIN Compliance

Along with obtaining your CIN, you must meet specific safety requirements:

  • Install combustible gas and carbon monoxide detectors
  • Install fire extinguishers
  • Professional rentals (managed as a business) must meet additional safety installation requirements

Display Your CIN on Holidu

To complete your CIN compliance and stand out to guests, order your official CIN premium badge to highlight your registration on your Holidu listing. Visit this link to order your badge today.

By obtaining your CIN and displaying it prominently, you ensure compliance with Italian regulations while building trust with potential guests.
