Important Notice (Updated October 2025)

In Italy, all accommodation providers are legally required to submit monthly statistical reports to the authorities. This guide will help you understand the statistical reporting requirements and how Holidu can simplify the process for you.

What is Statistical Reporting?

Statistical reporting in Italy is a legal requirement for all accommodation providers. These monthly reports help track tourism trends at both national and local levels, allowing governments and local administrations to plan tourism more effectively and make informed decisions about the hospitality industry.

Even if your property was closed or had no guests during the month, you are still required to submit the report. This ensures accurate tourism data collection across all accommodation types throughout Italy.

For more information about ISTAT reporting guidelines, you can refer to the official ISTAT documentation.

What Information is Required?

Each month, hosts must report the following details about their property and guests:

  • Property name: The official name of your accommodation
  • Property type: Such as hotel, bed and breakfast, holiday home, apartment, or other accommodation category
  • Days open or closed: A property is considered open if it was available for at least one day in the month. It is considered closed only if it remained closed for the entire month
  • Total available rooms for that month: The number of rooms you offered during the reporting period
  • Total available beds for that month: The total number of beds across all rooms
  • Total number of guests checked in during that month: The count of all guests who stayed at your property
  • Guest nationalities: The countries where your guests are from. If guests are Italian, the province where they reside must also be reported
  • Total number of occupied nights: The sum of all nights that were booked and occupied at your property

How Do Hosts Get Credentials?

Each province in Italy has its own regional portal where hosts must register to obtain their credentials. The registration process may vary depending on the local authority.

Generally, hosts will need to follow these steps:

  1. Identify the correct regional portal based on your property's location
  2. Register as an accommodation provider on the portal with your property details
  3. Receive login credentials consisting of a username and password
  4. Use these credentials to submit your monthly statistical reports

If you are unsure where to register, contact your local municipality or tourism office for guidance. They can provide you with the correct portal and registration instructions specific to your province.

How to Submit the Report?

Each province in Italy has its own regional portal where accommodation providers must submit their data. To make this process easier, Holidu offers an automatic statistical reporting feature as part of its regulatory support for the Italian market.

How to Enable Automatic Reporting

Once you connect your statistics account to Holidu, the integration automatically sends the required data to the regional authorities. This means you can spend less time on manual submissions and more time managing your property. The system takes care of the recurring submissions automatically each month.

Automatic Reporting for Empty Periods

The Holidu ISTAT integration also reports to ISTAT when there are no guests during a given month. This automatic reporting for empty periods ensures you remain compliant with the reporting requirements even when your property is unoccupied or closed.

How to Connect Your Property to Statistics Reporting

Follow these simple steps to connect your property to Holidu's statistical reporting system:

  1. Go to the Statistics Connection section in your Holidu account dashboard
  2. Set up the integration with your statistics account credentials to automate guest reporting
  3. Click on Validate to confirm your connection is working properly
  4. Save changes to activate automatic monthly reporting

Once these steps are completed, your property will be connected to the statistical reporting system. Holidu will automatically collect and submit your guest data each month according to the Italian requirements, ensuring you stay compliant without manual effort.
