Holidays in Seychelles

Location and orientation

An archipelago located in the heart of the Indian Ocean

The Seychelles archipelago is made up of 115 islands scattered in the Indian Ocean from the equator to near the Malagasy coast. Each one has its own identity and a very particular charm. They almost all have superb coves and bays bathed in waters ranging from emerald to turquoise, white sandy beaches dotted with palm trees, lush tropical vegetation....

How to get to Seychelles?

The national airline Air Seychelles operates direct scheduled flights from Paris Charles de Gaulle airport to Mahé airport. There are 5 flights a day and it will take you 9h30 to get to your destination. To get around the islands, there is an air shuttle between Mahé and Praslin (up to 20 rotations per day) which also have the advantage of allowing you to discover the archipelago from the sky. It is also possible to reach Praslin from Mahé by catamaran or boat. Some other islands are also accessible by ferry. Finally, there is a bus service, still on Mahé and Praslin, which operates every day from 6am to 7pm.

A destination for sea and nature lovers

A magnificent and preserved nature

Almost half of the Seychelles archipelago is located in nature reserves. This will allow you to easily observe turtles, fish of all colours, whale sharks and multiple birds (terns, frigates, noddis, hairy straw, flycatchers) that are not at all afraid of human presence. On Bird Island, it is even possible to go on a water hike to meet dolphins, turtles and sometimes whales. On land you can also watch sea turtles laying eggs or watch giant land turtles resting in the shade of a takamaka.

Beaches of breathtaking beauty

Seychelles has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world and there is bound to be one not far from your holiday rental. This is the case, for example, of Source d'Argent, Lazio or Georgette. Located on Praslin and often used as a backdrop by fashion photographers, Source d'Argent combines granite rocks, white sand and turquoise waters to form an absolutely magnificent ensemble. Anse Lazio (also on Praslin) is a cordon of white sand, bordered by rocks and takamakas and bathed in clear waters that invite you to refresh yourself. After swimming, feel free to enjoy a seafood meal in one of the restaurants on the beach.

Probably already known to Arabs and Indians, the Seychelles archipelago was discovered by Europeans in 1742, thanks to Lazare Picault, during a voyage of exploration.

Top 5 things to do

1. Discover Victoria

Victoria is one of the smallest capitals in the world with a population of only 30,000. It is also the only city in the archipelago. Stroll around to discover the bazaar and its fish, fruit and vegetable and spice stalls. You will do your shopping in a Creole atmosphere before continuing on Market Street to discover the shops run by the Indians. Don't miss the botanical garden, colonial houses and the Hindu temple.

2. Walking in the May Valley

It is a lush forest, listed as a World Heritage Site, which can be discovered by taking marked trails. You can observe the sea coconut trees whose fruit, the curious coconut buttock, symbolizes the Seychelles.

3. Dive around the islet of Saint-Pierre

This granite islet surrounded by intense blue-green waters is a true postcard setting. Excursions are organised there to discover its seabed and its colourful fauna, equipped with fins, mask and snorkel.

4. Admire Creole architecture

Inherited from French and then English colonization, colonial houses deserve to be admired. In La Digue, you can see beautiful colonial residences built for planters in the 19th century. In Mahé, you can see beautiful and vast villas as well as small colourful huts located at the foot of a granite cliff.

5. Hiking in the Morne Seychellois National Park

The northern part of Mahé is part of the Morne Seychellois National Park and is particularly suitable for hiking with its peaks approaching 1,000 metres in altitude and its wilderness areas with incredible vegetation. Guides can accompany you to discover the most secret corners of the park and the most sumptuous panoramas.
