The beaches in Biarritz are one of the symbols of the city. The long stretches of sand and seaweed are full of iodine, with great benefits for the human body. Amongst its beaches, Plage Miramar is the quieter one, but not recommended for children or surfing because of the strong currents. The most popular and big one is the Grand Plage, in the heart of Biarritz and close to eateries and shopping areas. Port des Pêcheurs is a small port built by Napoleon in the 1800s. It is easily reached after a pleasant walk along the scenic path from the Musée de la Mer. On the other side of Pointe Saint-Martin you find Anglet, a place with beautiful beaches. This is where Côte d’Argent begins stretching up to Gironde Estuary. If you walk along the boardwalk you will get panoramic and stunning views, not far from Biarritz’s lighthouse. The beaches are great spaces of golden sand to fly kites with the kids, go for your running next to the ocean or practice some surf. Plage des Corsairs is a great spot for it.
